Effective immediately the Washington Irish will require proof of covid-19 vaccination (visual verification of actual or photograph of vaccine card) to participate in any training and matches.
Following the first known positive covid-19 infection, the club responded the only way we know how: responsibly. A member of the club tested positive for covid-19 and immediately reported that to the wirfc executive council. We cancelled practice and then informed all potentially exposed players. Each player and coach then either received negative covid tests or exceeded CDC guideline for possible exposure prior to returning to sanctioned events. Following this, The EC has made the decision to require all individuals wishing to participate in trainings or matches to show proof of vaccination moving forward. While we support your right to make your personal choices, as a club, we want to protect our collective members from undue risk to themselves or their families.
As such, before participating in any sanctioned event, everyone will be required to show verification of vaccination status. No PII will be kept, but much like paying dues or cipping with USA Rugby, your standing will be tracked by the EC.
