Practice Information

Practices are open to everyone that is interested in playing rugby with the Irish.  No experience is necessary!  New members are welcome at any point in the season. The Irish are very proud of our inclusive team culture, acceptance of new members, our tight knit family of current and past players as well as their families and friends.  We welcome anyone interested in the sport of rugby to come watch and learn about the sport.  Individuals interested in playing, experienced or not, are also very welcome to come to our practices and games and participate.

Always keep an eye on our homepage and social media for training updates in the event of inclement weather.  You can also follow the club on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Safety Precautions & Procedures for Weekday Training Sessions and Saturday Games or Trainings:

  • Don’t show up if you’re feeling ill
  • We are asking that individuals adhere to CDC guidance and that they be vaccinated if participating. If vaccinated, no mask requirements.
  • You must sign a standard waiver before participating in your first session. We will provide these at the pitch and may also set up an online portal for this requirement.
Finally, we recommend that you CIPP with USA rugby for insurance purposes. There is a reduced rate offered for practice-only participation, so please sign up with our club here: https://usarugby.sportlomo.com/. You can find the Irish by filtering for “Senior Club” and “Capital Rugby Union” before scrolling through the Club Names for “Washington Irish Rugby Football Club.”
You must CIPP in order to play in any sanctioned matches, including upcoming Summer 2021 friendlies.
